After what feels like years of waiting, Zendaya’s return to Euphoria as Rue Bennett (a role which earned the 24-year-old actress an Emmy Award) is almost upon us, and the series is set to be filled with even more glittery eyeshadow, daring fashion and of course, drama, between its colourful cast of characters.

Despite setbacks due to the pandemic, the series’ highly-anticipated second season will have fans gearing up to finally find out some answers following its viral, cliffhanger ending. Here’s everything we know so far about Euphoria season two.

Where Did ‘Euphoria’s’ First Season Finish Off?

Many will remember the eighth and final episode of season one, titled “And Salt the Earth Behind You”, followed Rue’s relapse in a surreal musical number; Jules leaving and heading to the city on a train; Cassie seeking out an abortion and Maddy stealing an incriminating CD from Nate’s room that could expose his father.

With so much left unanswered, we’re sure series creator Samuel Levinson has a lot in store for viewers in its second installment.

When Can We Expect ‘Euphoria’ Season Two To Premiere?

While no official date has been given for Euphoria’s second season, HBO released two additional episodes to keep fans hooked in the meantime. The first premiered in December 2020, and focused on the dynamic between Rue and her sponsor Ali (Colman Domingo). The second followed Jules (Hunter Schafer) and was titled, “F*ck Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob”, and premiered in January 2021, focusing on her relationship with Rue.

Speaking with EW, Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, added in a statement, “Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya. Cassie has a crazy storyline in season two that I did not expect. Every time I read a new episode that Sam writes, my jaw is on the ground and I can’t believe this is something coming out of someone’s mind.”

Kelvin Harrison Jr. Has Joined The ‘Euphoria’ Cast For Season Two.

Kelvin Harrison Jr., best known for his work in Waves, confirmed his rumoured involvement in the series during an appearance on Complex’s Watch Less podcast.

“I wasn’t talking about it for a while but we’re in Quarantine, YOLO. Yes, I’m doing Euphoria. I’m excited,” he said. “You know, right before quarantine we were about to start our first day, and then we got locked down, but the camera tests were sick, the fittings were sick, the table reads have been amazing. The scripts are so great and everyone is really excited for it. [Sam Levinson is] a great writer and a brilliant storyteller, and the aesthetic and world-building they do in that show is so unique and he really pushes boundaries, as well. So I’m excited to step into that space and do my part.”

Later speaking with GQ, the actor said: “Sam’s still figuring it out, but from the table-reads, I know this character is unlike anything I’ve ever seen on the screen. I honestly have no idea how to describe this character, but I can say that Kelvin is one of the most talented actors working today.”

In May 2021, it was revealed by EW that due to “scheduling conflicts” Harrison was no longer attached to the series.

Stay tuned for more Euphoria updates as they drop.
