In 2020, it was reported that Rihanna and ASAP (or A$AP) Rocky had turned their friendship up a notch, elevating them to couple status.

Following in the footsteps of Hailey and Justin Bieber, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker (and Monica and Chandler?), the Fenty founder and rapper were friends for several years before they became a couple.

In fact, both have dated other high-profile people, with Rihanna finding love with businessman Hassan Jameel and ASAP previously dating Kendall Jenner.

With their friendship as a base, it seems like the couple – who have stayed particularly private on their love lives since seemingly getting together and have never publicly confirmed their relationship – are going from strength to strength.

April 2021: Rihanna And ASAP Rocky Wear Matching Leather Outfits On Date Night

Rihanna and the ‘Problem’s rapper were photographed leaving Delilah restaurant in Los Angeles together on April 13. Rihanna led the way, wearing a long brown leather coat, strappy sandal, sunglasses and a face mask while ASAP walked behind, also in leather wearing black leather trousers, a T-shirt and bomber jacket.

December 2020: Rihanna and ASAP Rocky Spend The Holidays Together

To round up 2020, the couple spent some time together in Rihanna’s home country, Barbados with Rihanna’s friends and family. TMZ obtained pictures of the two hand in hand and on a catamaran cruise together.

A month earlier, in November, a ‘source’ confirmed to People that the former friends were definitely a couple.

August 2020: ASAP Rocky Stars In Rihanna’s Fenty Skin Campaign

Launching her skincare branch of Fenty Beauty last August, Fenty Skin, Rihanna enlisted ASAP to star in the campaign as the male model opposite her.

In a beautiful shot of the two sat in front of a lake shared to her Instagram page, Riri captioned the picture: ‘That’s right baby…@fentyskin is for my fellas too!’

To promote the line, ASAP and Riri gave a joint interview to GQ and Vogue, which saw Rihanna ask the 32-year-old rapper what his skin type was and he replied: ‘Handsome’.

January 2020: Rumours First Surface That Rihanna Is Dating A$AP Rocky

After it surfaced that Rihanna had ended her relationship with businessman Jameel after three years, The Sun reported she and Rocky ‘shared a hotel suite’ during a trip to New York for a concert and were forming a relationship.

However, at the time, a source denied this rumour to E! saying that Rihanna was single, noting: ‘She wants to be single and isn’t going to jump into something. She’s hanging out with ASAP Rocky, but she is not dating him.’

The rumours continued for a few months, until People reported that they had confirmed the couple’s relationship 11 months later in December 2020 and suggested their relationship was ‘new’. So, who knows?

December 2019: ASAP Rocky Supports Rihanna At The Fashion Awards

Attending as friends, the pair were seen walking the red carpet together at the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where Rihanna’s Fenty label was awarded a prize.

Later that month, the ‘Only Girl In The World’ singer attended his show in Stockholm, Sweden.

September 2019: ASAP Rocky Attends Rihanna’s Diamond Ball

The rapper was on the guestlist for Rihanna’s annual Diamond Ball at Cipriani, Wall Street which benefits her Clara Lionel Foundation.

The friends were pictured laughing, smiling and chatting on the front row at the Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton menswear runway show during Paris Fashion Week.

2013: Rihanna Stars In ASAP Rocky’s ‘Fashion Killa’ Video and ASAP Rocky Supports Rihanna On Tour

The two supported each other’s careers and collaborated a lot in 2013 when Rihanna asked Rocky to be the supporting act for her Diamonds tour. Meanwhile, Rihanna was the leading cameo in ASAP Rocky’s music video for ‘Fashion Killa’.

At the time, ASAP Rocky was asked about existing rumours back then as to the state of their friendship/relationship to which he reportedly told Distractify: ‘I don’t even look at her like that. She’s sexy, but I’m good.’

September 2012: Rihanna And ASAP Rocky Perform Together AT MTV VMAs

For the MTV Video Music Awards, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky took to the stage at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles for a medley of the singer’s hits, ‘Cockiness’ and ‘We Found Love’.
