Today, Ralph Lauren announced Woman, its first new fragrance in a decade. “For me, Woman captures the very essence of modern femininity,” says the designer in a press release. “When I started designing women’s clothes, it was with a menswear sensibility. I love women who take something masculine and make it exceptionally feminine.” Actress Jessica Chastain is the face of the Steven Meisel-shot campaign meant to embrace this duality.

The fragrance, a mix of bright tuberose and deep sandalwood by perfumer Anne Flipo, will be in stores this August. For Chastain’s thoughts on the scent and her new role, see the September issue of ELLE Canada.
